What is your number one beauty tip?

I used to have really thick, black hair. I was on a swim team this summer and the overexposure to chlorine reduced it about half of what it is. It's halfway down my back, and I was wondering if there were any natural ways to slowly build it back up to what it used to be. I don't straighten it often, maybe once or twice every month, and I don't use any product in it. It's naturally wavy when it dries, so I don't use a blow dryer or anything. Please help?

Hair masks are a recent discovery for me and they are life-changing. All you do is shampoo and condition like normal, then apply a mask to your hair and leave it in for three to five minutes (basically the time it takes to shave your legs or sing a show tune). You’ll be amazed at how much silkier and softer your hair feels after. Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask has some crazy statistics — it reduces breakage by 96 percent after one use — but I mostly love it because it smells like Hawaii. For real.”

I have a lot of acne scars on my upper back and shoulder area. Any advice for a good product to cover them up when I wear fancy dresses?

"I once had a video shoot where the makeup artist had to use practically a bottle of MAC Face and Body to cover up ski-related bruises on my legs. The stuff works and really stays put - just make sure to let it dry completely before getting dressed! You should also use an acne body wash to both prevent bacne and also help fade existing scars. Look for a product with vitamin C in it like Peter Thomas Roth’s Blemish Buffing Beads.”

sup, mollie! i love to wear eyeshadow, but can't seem to keep it on. as the day wears on, it slowly creases into what looks like a breton-striped t-shirt. how can i prevent 'greasy eyelid syndrome' and keep the color on my lids?

"Hi Sara! Fun fact: our eyelids are one of the oiliest parts of our bodies. Eep — no wonder shadows go sliding. My solution: eyeshadow primer. Stila’s Prime Pot is a fairly dry, waterproof formula that helps the pigment stick to your lid all day — plus it keeps the color bright and crease-free.”

Do you have any special tips for us four-eyed girls? I feel like my eyes can become lost behind my glasses if I wear too much makeup, but I also get tired of the natural look!

"We shared office space with Warby Parker for part of the summer and since then, our whole staff has been sporting thick, professor chic specs. I like using neutral eyeshadows to give eyes contour and depth — just pick three shades in the same color family and apply the light shade all over your eyelid, a slightly lighter shimmery color near the lashline, and a dark shade in the crease (video tutorial here). Use liner on the top and bottom of your eye to add definition, and don’t forget to keep your brows tidy! Bobbi Brown also just launched an eyeshadow collection designed specifically for women with glasses — she can do no wrong! And check out what the Warby Parker girls themselves have to say about pairing makeup and glasses!”
