Adventure personified. Osa Johnson explored the world on sea planes and zebras, and literally wrote the book on adventure.

My favorite folk singer, Nicki Bluhm. Her music is a must-listen, and her style is 70s-Cher meets San Francisco-bell bottoms. She’s shared a stage with Neil Young and she explores the backcountry on telemark skis. Done.

This one just gets me. I love Ali MacGraw. This is just proof that, sometimes, all you need is a perfect tee. I used to live in Beachwood Canyon right across from one of the houses she lived in with Steve McQueen, I like to think this might have been taken there.

I adore this NYC-based stylist and street style darling. She has a knack for incorporating her Argentine heritage into her urban outfits. You can see her wearing these clothes in Brooklyn as much as you can see her roaming the Pampas and drinking maté.

One of my favorite spreads in the book, this photo taken of Susan Ford washing her car is incredible and so “The Girl Next Door”, even if the White House is in the background. I also love to think about the back story of this photo. Did Secret Service need to find a hose and set this whole thing up?
